Cervical cancer rates are up to 10 times higher in Eastern Europe and Central Asia than they are in Western Europe. For this reason, the ICCPA has partnered with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Regional Office for Eastern Europe & Central Asia as well as the UNFPA national offices, ministries of health and other organisations in these countries to facilitate the establishment of cervical cancer prevention programmes. To do this, the ICCPA provides assistance with:

  1. Identifying and engaging all relevant national stakeholders,
  2. Quantifying the existing capacities of the health services required to deliver the programme,
  3. Quantifying the health service capacities that need to be developed,
  4. Preparing comprehensive plans for the development of the required health service capacities,
  5. Implementing the plans by facilitating international exchanges for the development of knowledge and skills,
  6. Monitoring implementation progress and adapting development plans to ensure progress is maintained.
